Stan Hubbard Obituary

HUBBARD

Stan

Stan Hubbard, age 72, of Perrysburg, Ohio, one of life's true "Good Guys" has gone on to join his wife, Helen, in a better place. Stan Hubbard was a man of many talents, utterly devoted to his family, and one of the best mentors and a great friend. There was nothing Stan could not repair, from rebuilding historical cars to mending a small child's broken heart. He was always happy to share his knowledge and good fortune; his motto was "pay it forward". Many times that was the only repayment he required.

As a young boy growing up in the country, Stan always had a talent for being able to study anything and then take it apart and repair or improve it. He was fascinated by automobiles and was able to build successful businesses working at filling stations. He parlayed that knowledge into heavy construction equipment, where he became one of the best service technicians in the business. He continued his successful career by moving into management of a large local Caterpillar repair facility. He valued all the people-skills he acquired while working for Peter Holt of the Caterpillar's founding family. He was a friend and mentor to many young mechanics and would take them under his wing to help build their skills and confidence.

Stan's workday never ended when he left his job. He would head home, spend time with his children, and then head "out back" to his shop after dinner. He became locally renowned for his skills in building show-quality engines and refurbishing street rods and historical models. As well, he was generous about repairing cars of friends and family. He was handy at home remodeling, and with his dear brother Gene by his side, there was nothing they wouldn't tackle. He was also very passionate about antiques and collectibles. He was an adept fisherman and made some of the best perch dinners ever tasted.

Stan enjoyed life and family and has had a long wonderful journey. He leaves behind a legion of friends and loving family. Surviving is his son, Jeff (Lori) Hubbard, and daughter, Sandy (Will) Stasiak; mother, Athole G. Hubbard; grandchildren, Adam (Nikki), Maddy (Kyle), Brittany, Megan, Jeffrey Jr., Brandon and Anya (Brett); 4 great-grandchildren. Stan is also survived by his dear brother and best friend, Gene (Ellen) Hubbard, and sister, Sonia (Ernie) Quincy; in-laws, Donald and Angela Lauer, and dear friend, Sandy J. Couture.

Stan was preceded in death by his wife, Helen, who was his soul mate and life-long true love, and his father, Eugene Hubbard.

Family and friends may visit at the Sujkowski Funeral Home of Rossford, 830 Lime City Rd. on Friday, June 27, 2014, from 2-7 p.m. A memorial service will immediately follow visitation at 7 p.m. in the funeral home. Stan "Boss Man" Hubbard...My Uncle, my mentor, my friend. Always ready to guide and support others with deep knowledge, sharp wit, and a new joke to make your day better. All done with that wonderful devious grin telling you something interesting was about to come your way!

Someday we will meet again and swap stories on the Lords knee. I look forward to hearing all about your new adventures like fishing with Jesus and building Hot Rods that make angels plug their ears...and then there's Helen's Honey Do list that your behind on...

God Blessed us all with your presence here for a time. You will be remembered, are already deeply missed and will ALWAYS be loved!
