Terry Wymer Obituary

Terry Wymer

Terry Wymer, 66 of North Baltimore, passed away at 8:36 a.m., Saturday, October 18, 2025, at his residence. He was born on October 24, 1958, in Bowling Green to the late James L. Sr. and Lelia (Moberly) Wymer. He married Teresa Hennings on August 15, 1981, and she survives.

Terry is also survived by his children: Luke (Cassie) Wymer of North Baltimore, Eric (Hannah) Wymer of Findlay, and Rachel Wymer of Van Buren; his brothers: James (Nancy) Wymer, Jr. of North Baltimore and Timothy (Mona-deceased) Wymer of North Baltimore; sister, Theresa (Ned) Slaughterbeck of North Baltimore; and his beloved grandchildren: Beckett Wymer and Bexley Wymer.

He was also preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Louise Hennings.

Terry was a proud graduate of North Baltimore High School, where he was inducted into the North Baltimore Sports Hall of Fame for his outstanding achievements in athletics. His passion for sports continued as he pursued a degree in Biology from the University of Findlay, where he graduated in 1982. During his time at UF, Terry played both baseball and football and was part of the 1979 National Championship Football Team.

In 2015, his alma mater honored him by inducting him into The University of Findlay Sports Hall of Fame, where he was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award. He was known not only for his athletic ability but for his commitment to improving the lives of others through sports.

Terry's career as an official began in 1984 when he started officiating high school basketball. His passion for the game soon led him to officiate NCAA Division I Men's College Basketball beginning in 1988. Over the years, he became one of the most respected officials in the country, working in prestigious conferences such as the Big Ten, Atlantic Coast, and Mid-American Conferences, and officiating in numerous NCAA tournaments, including five Final Fours and three National Championship games.

He officiated in several Big Ten Tournament Championship games and has been a fixture at the Summit League and Mid-American Conference Championships. Outside of his officiating career, Terry was a passionate entrepreneur, owning and operating TRW Cleaning Services.

Terry was currently the Executive Director of the Collegiate Officiating Consortium and Coordinator of Officials for the Big Ten and Mountain West Conferences. His professional working career also included Balfour, Coldren-Crates Funeral Homes, and Mid-Am Bank.

Terry's impact extended far beyond the basketball court, where his integrity, work ethic, and commitment to fairness inspired countless athletes, coaches, and fellow officials.

Terry's memory will live on through the many lives he touched in the sports community and beyond. His legacy as an outstanding athlete, official, and community member will forever be cherished.

Earlier today

I only knew Terry for a couple of years, but in that short time, he made a real impact on me. He was always good to me-honest, straightforward, and genuine in every way. Terry earned my respect and admiration quickly, and I´ll always be grateful for the friendship he showed. He´ll be deeply missed.

I met Terry back in the day when he was in the mortgage business we remained friends for all the years after. I had lunch with him when final 4 was in AZ. He was always a positive influence on all he came in touch with. My prayers go out to all his family and may god help you thru these trying times. I will never forget him!!

Terry was a true professional and a great friend. We worked many games together and it always felt like an honor to have him on the basketball court, before, during and after the game. He was respected and well liked by so many involved in the games. Coaches, fans, players and media alike. Prayers to his family and many friends. He loved you all as well as his home town. What an incredible loss for so many.

Terry Wymer was a very special person in my basketball loving family. We visited most recently at the BGSU Athletic Hall of Fame dinner which involved the induction of our dear friend, Scott Hamilton and BGSU alum and coaching legend, Greg Kampe. Terry made a special point of seeking us out and we had a brief, but a truly wonderful and indeed memorable visit. Terry was a consummate professional and always thoughtful. We had many mutual friends and I will always remember his several presentations to the BG Kiwanis Club. What a loss! Terry was a treasure in the world of basketball officiating, in his community of North Baltimore and to be sure, in BG and throughout NW Ohio. We offer our heartfelt expression of sympathy to Theresa, Luke, Eric and Rachel. Dick Edwards, BG Mayor Emeritus and wife, Nadine
