August 1, 1948 - December 30, 2025
Thomas John Carter, age 77 of Toledo, Ohio, passed away December 30, 2025, in Arbors at Sylvania. Thomas was born August 1, 1948, in Sandusky, Ohio, to Edward and Ruth (Schweigert) Carter. A 1966 graduate of Sandusky High School, he served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Tom was an EMT with Walker Ambulance and a Volunteer Fireman for Washington Township. He was also a cab driver for many area cab companies and an insurance agent for Western and Southern Life. In his younger years he had acted in several local plays with the Toledo Repertoire Theatre and the Ohio Theatre. Tom was a member of St. Hedwig Catholic Church until it closed. He will be remembered as a funny, loving and creative man who was a great husband and father.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his brothers, William and David Carter; and his sister, Patricia Brown. Surviving are his loving wife, Irene Carter; and his daughter, Janet Carter; and son, Robert Carter. Also surviving are his grandson, Landen Carter; and goddaughter, Georgianna Oliver.
Tom's Life Celebration will be Tuesday January 6, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., in Urbanski Funeral Home- a Life Celebration Home, 5055 Secor Rd., Toledo, Ohio. Visitation will continue Wednesday, January 7, 2025, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., in Christ the King Catholic Church, 4100 Harvest Lane, Toledo, Ohio 43623, where the Funeral Mass will begin at 10:30 a.m., with Fr. Chris Hudgin presiding. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Toledo, Ohio.
