Thomas Peter KREUZ

KREUZ Thomas Peter Thomas Peter Kreuz, age 79, of Berkey, Ohio, entered into eternal life, Wednesday morning, October 13, 2010, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Perrysburg. He was born June 13, 1931, in Maumee, Ohio, to Peter A. and Hazel (Smith) Kreuz. On April 11, 1953, he married his beloved wife, Iris McDonnell. Tom spent the majority of his life farming and working construction. After retirement, he worked for the Sisters of Notre Dame as caretaker of their orchards. His favorite pastimes were camping, traveling, collecting antiques, refinishing furniture, and caning chairs. Tom was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Parish, Knights of Columbus, and Holy Name Society, where he served on the finance committee. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 57 years, Iris; daughters, Denise (Donald "Pete") Farley, Diane (Roger) Freytag, and Linda Johnston (Dave Decker); special family member, Joan Schliebner; grandchildren, Jamie (Jessica) Farley, Daniel Farley (Erica Ziemke), Corrie Farley (Keith Snyder), Eric (Adrienne) Freytag, Tamara Freytag (Dan Fiske), Ashley Freytag, Nicky (Joe) Smith, and Megan Johnston; and great-grandchildren, Michael, Garrett, Alivia, and Jake. Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Hazel; sister, Jane Reno; and brother-in-law, Russ Reno. Friends and family may visit Friday, October 15th, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home in Metamora, where a Scripture service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Prayers will begin in the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 16th, followed by a Mass of Resurrection at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church at Assumption. Fr. Ron Schock will officiate. Interment will follow at St. Elizabeth Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio, The Alzheimer's Association, or Holy Trinity Parish.
