Timothy H. Wening

Timothy H. Wening, 64, of Toledo, passed away on Monday, March 23, 2026, at Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo.

He was born August 21, 1961, in Toledo, to James H. Wening and Roberta Deck.

A 1980 Whitmer High School graduate, Timothy attended college at the University of Toledo before beginning a 40-year media career as an Emmy-nominated Photojournalist, Chief Photographer, and News Editor. He worked at both WNWO Channel 24 and WTOL Channel 11 in Toledo, and WXIX Channel 19 in Cincinnati.

Tim loved 80's music and his favorite band was Def Leppard; he saw them in concert 33 times! He was an avid University of Toledo and University of Michigan football fan, and followed college and pro football religiously on TV. He participated for 41 years in one of the country's oldest fantasy football leagues, with his team (Fez's Ferrets) winning their first championship this past season. Tim was a loyal friend and still spent time with his best friends, Rick Cherry, Dave Page, Roy Cherry, and Rich Kretz, from grade school and high school.

Above all, Tim loved his kids, of which he was extremely proud every day. His family and friends will miss him dearly, especially his hugs and his ability to make everyone laugh with his dry wit.

He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Coleen (Gerard) Wening; children, Isabel (T.J. Johnson) Wening and James (Kendall Corbin) Wening; sisters, Mary Wening, Kim (Joe) Maros, and Laura Juhasz; sister-in-law, Patty (Gerard) Sigler; nephew, Matthew Sigler; niece, Meghan Sigler; and great-niece, Michaela Sigler. He was preceded in death by his father, James Wening; and mother, Roberta Deck; his father-in-law, William Gerard; mother-in-law, Patricia Gerard; and brother-in-law, W. Christopher Sigler.

Visitation will be Sunday, March 29, 2026, from 2:00-7:00 p.m., at David R. Jasin-Hoening Funeral Home, 5300 N. Summit St., Toledo, Ohio 43611. Funeral services will begin in the funeral home, on Monday, March 30, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., Fr. James Morman officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Toledo.
