My condolences to Vince's family. I was a freshman at Scott High School when he was a senior. I was in the band, and I remember him very well as the drum major. I didn't know what he did after high school, but I note that we graduated the same year from the University of Toledo - 1971, although I was on the main campus and wouldn't have come across him.

Hi Dawn. I'm so sorry for your loss. I knew your Dad as my Mom's mail carrier on Towne Ct. She took care of my kids before and after school and the kids would follow him on his rounds on the court when they were out of school. I think my kids (Melanie and Melissa Lamb) went to school with Jim, too.

Jim and Family, you may weep for a time but joy comes in the morning. Your Dad and I served together in Thailand. He sent me a letter about four years ago telling me of his faith in Jesus and hope for the future. This insures we shall see him again and spend forever together. Please be encouraged by the love of God towards you and the great ability He has to comofort those who grieve. Jan and I shall be praying for you during these days.

Dear Jim,
Thanks so much for sharing with us, your coworkers at school, these wonderful wishes from your Dad's friends and family. He sounds like a really great guy.....just like you. May you feel God holding you and yours in the palm of His hand in the hard days to come as you learn to live with your father not physically present with you, yet always present in your heart and memories. You will remain in my prayers, Love, Susan (also born in May of '45)

My sincerest sympathy to the Wuwert family. I'm very saddened by Vince's unexpected passing. Vince (Vinnie Wu) was a special person. I served with Vince in Thailand during 1968-69. He was a caring and special guy back then. While in Thailand Vince would learn all he could about the local area and then do what he could to help those less fortunate. I remember he would spend free time helping out at one of the local orphanages. Vince loved his country and was a dedicated Airman. Vince was responsible for starting up an Annual Reunion of fellow Airmen that served together in Thailand. He also took the initiative to obtain an American Flag that was flown over the U.S. Capital for our Det. 4 Unit. This flag is flown at each of our annual reunions. We will always remember Vince for the many good things he has done. I'll miss the regular EMail exchanges we had. He had a gift for writing and an exceptional memory. I'll miss you Vince. If you look up patriotic in the dictionary, the number one definition listed would probably be Vincent Wuwert. He was truly an ALL-AMERICAN and devoted to his family and country. He will be missed by all his buddies from England (6950th) and Thailand (6922nd).- USAF SECURITY SERVICE. My prayers go out to the Wuwert family. Rest is peace Vince.

It happens Vince and I served together in the USAFSS at Ramasun Station in NE Thailand in 1968. I was a linguist and Vince was a Morse Code intercept operator, so we did not actually work together, though we were within twenty feet of each other during our duty shifts. I met Vince some years ago via the internet when he contacted me about my web site, Viet-REMF. Vince asked me to post a story he had written expressing some of his feelings about his time in Thailand and the people he had met there. Vince and I had much in common in the love we both felt for Thailand and its people. Vince's story can be read at http://www.viet-remf.net/Sawadee.htm

Vince and I had not communicated in recent months, and I was shocked to hear he had passed. I want to express my most sincere condolences to his family. Vince Wuwert was a wonderful man and friend of mine. Rest in Peace, Vince. Sawadee krup!

My father, Larry Armstrong, has been best friends with Vince since the 60s. I remember the love of sports he carried with him when I met him at a UConn Women's basketball game in the 90s. I was honored to introduce him to my two sons. My oldest son was looking forward to sharing a bag of popcorn this summer with Vince at a Tides game, just like last summer. Like many others, we will miss Vince. Ours prayers are with the family as you learn to live with your loss.

So shocked to learn of Vince' passing. Vince and I were both assigned to RAF Chicksands in the early 1960's. We reconnected on the Internet a little over 10 years ago and shared a lot of old memories aboutt USAFSS and the Post Office.

Jim, I want to extend my deepest sympathy on the death of your father,
Vince Wuwert. My heart goes out to all of the family. Vince was a special friend and I considered him part of my family. His beautifully written works reside in two of my publications: PIECES . . . of our Lives; and THESE GUYS: Cold War Stories Told by Cold War Warriors. He served at RAF Chicksands, England and Ramasun Station, Thailand during the Cold War. He entered the United States Air Force Security Service (chosen from the cream of the crop of the Air Force) and became a Morse Code Operator ("ditty bopper") of the finest kind. I have known him 10 years and he was my "Sarge" and he called me his "Airman." I will miss you, "Vincinzikov" with all my heart, soul and being. Finally, you are in heaven with my brother who was SSGT Phil Noland, USAFSS (Ret) deceased in 1986 - serving from 1951-1965 as a Radio Intercept Analyst. Vince always said, "Trish, if only I could get your brother into a room all our own, what stories we could tell each other about USAFSS.")
Vincinzikov was a Russian name I called him. Thank you for being my buddy! and for helping me find information about my brother.

Da svidanya,
Patrushka (Trish Schiesser)

Though we didn't get together often, I cherish the times we did. I was so happy to find that I had scrapbooked the very last picture I had taken with you. I am so glad that I have that. My Uncle, my Godfather, I will miss your emails and how you would frequently check in on my family. I take comfort in knowing that I will see you again in heaven. Love you.

Uncle Vinny,
I remember the first time I met you was when Butch took me to his parents house for the first time. I was a very quiet shy person who talked very little to people I didn't know. I found most people have a very hard time with that but not you! You included me in a conversation that made me feel comfortable and able to at least converse a little. I knew from that day you were a "special" guy.

I will also always remember our last conversation only a couple weeks ago. I am so happy I told you again how much I loved you and thanked you for always being there for Butch and I.

Rest in peace Uncle Vinny.

Love always,
Nancy
