Wayne Willard Sr.



Wayne Willard Burdge Sr., died June 13, 2015, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio after a long illness and courageous battle.

Born on August 30, 1933, Wayne lived on the family farm his entire life. After meeting the love of his life, Luette, at the age of 18, they married on February 19, 1954, and enjoyed 61 fulfilling years together. They were always side-by-side, from building a home with their own hands, to raising a family. Luette was with him through it all, taking care of him until the very end.

Wayne lived a life of integrity, honesty, humbleness and quiet strength, uncomplaining even throughout his illness. A hardworking man, he was a member of the Operators Engineers for over 40 years. Wayne embraced the simple pleasures in life, including cars, hunting, square dancing and vacations on the lake in his younger years. And in his later years, you could find him in the shop woodworking, watching football or more likely outside fishing or working in the yard.

His greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends, playing cards, eating out or just getting together. But he was always happiest at home, relaxing in his chair at the end of a long day.

In addition to Luette, he will be greatly missed by his children, Wayne (Diane) Burdge Jr., Lisa (Jim) Fisher, Joe (Mary Ann) Burdge and Connie (Jeff) Lawrence; grandchildren, Erin (Brad) Bach, Nathan (Korey) Burdge, Jordan Burdge, Dan (Anne) Fisher, Matt (Jackie) Fisher, John Fisher, Angie Burdge, Mike Burdge, Ryan (Stephanie) Bachli, Derek Lawrence and Brianna Lawrence; great-grandchildren, Mikaila, Mikinze, Michael, Nathan Jr., Aaden, Jaylen, John Jr., Olivia, Henry, Eli, Brogan.

He was also very special to his surviving sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Rita and Bob Draper, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Alma; brother, Ross, and sisters-in-law, Betty Burdge and Lana Huff.

Services will be private. Donations may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio or the charity of the donor's choice. Arrangements made by Cremation Society of Toledo.
