Wayne Estrel Obituary
Wayne Ralph Estrel of Toledo, age 84, passed away Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at St. Anne's Mercy Hospital. Wayne was born October 21, 1934 in Toledo to the late Ralph and Lucille (Duvendack) Estrel. He was a 1952 graduate of DeVilbiss High School, attended the University of Toledo, and proudly served 8 years in the U.S. Naval Reserves.
Wayne worked in sales for Curtin and Pease Advertising Agency for 20 years. In 1979, he opened and operated his own printing and mail marketing company, Associates and Estrel, which he operated for over 20 years with his business partner, Mary Nagy. Wayne was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Toledo, the Maumee Elks and Sylvania Moose. A sports enthusiast, he played for and managed a AAA softball team that made it to the World Nationals. He was also an avid golfer and a skilled euchre player. Wayne loved the Cleveland Browns, Indians, and Cavaliers, and the Ohio State Buckeyes. He found his greatest joy in spending time with his family, attending his grandchildren's activities and traveling, especially to New Smyrna Beach, FL. Wayne will be fondly remembered for his great sense of humor and his thoughtfulness, which led to a very large network of friends whom he cared for deeply.
Left to cherish his memory are his soulmate, Gloria; sons, Tom (Tracy), Tim (Sara) and Terry Estrel; step-children, Tracy Fanning and Todd Reed; grandchildren, Josh, Jacob, Chris (Corinne), Aaron, Alex, Brittany, Dianna, Connor, Cody, and Spencer; and great-grandchild, Elizabeth.
Visitation will be held from 1-6 p.m. Sunday, January the 20th, in the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. (west of Corey Rd.). Additional visitation at Grace Lutheran Church, 4441 Monroe St., Toledo, will be held Monday morning from 9:00 am until the time of funeral services at 10:00 am. Interment will follow at Historic Woodlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St Jude Children's Research Hospital or the Shriners Hospitals for Children. Wayne and I were close buddies when we were teenagers - both lived on Craigwood a few doors from each other. We played many hours together -
basketball in my driveway, baseball and football at the street corner. I can remember like it was yesterday a sleepover in the attic at his house with a couple other buddies - we had a hoot until all hours. To my great regret, we drifted our own ways when he went to TU and I went to UofM. Wish now that I had searched him out over the years. He was a great guy and I'll miss him. My deepest condolences.

Wayne & Gloria have been close neighbors and friends for almost 30 years. Two of the best neighbors one could have. Our hearts go out to Gloria and the entire family.
