William Stamm Obituary

William "Bill" Stamm

1/30/1933 - 11/1/2025

William "Bill" Stamm, age 92, passed away at his Springfield Township home on Saturday, November 1, 2025, following a long illness, with family at his side. Bill was born to William H. and Erma (Kethel) Stamm in Monclova Township on Monday, January 30, 1933, in a house that was later known as The Munchkin Book Shop. He weighed just 3 lbs!

Bill was a lifelong Monclova and Springfield Township resident. Bill was active in all sports. His trophies indicate Bill was the Most Valuable Player of the Year for baseball and basketball at Anthony Wayne High School in 1951. He also lettered in football. In addition, Bill earned the Most Valuable Player Award for 1950. Bill was part of the Ohio Bell State Tournament in 1974. Bill was inducted into the Anthony Wayne Alumni Hall of Fame on September 15, 2000, Class of 1951.

Bill proudly served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. During his time at Daegu City Air Force Base, he participated in a sports activity that resulted in first place! After Bill's honorable discharge, he was a player for the Monclova Town team under the direction of Coach Dick Albaugh. Later in life, Bill was a dedicated coach for the Little League in Springfield Township for several years.

Bill married his sweetheart, Bonita Wagner, from Springfield Township, in 1956.

Bill worked several years for Wesson Homes, Toledo, following his father, Bill Stamm, into that trade. He was later employed by Ohio Bell and AT&T for a combined total of 31 years, holding several positions there.

Bill belonged to the Springfield Township Department, reporting to the No. 2 Fire Station. Eventually, he was appointed head of the Rescue Squad and captain. He was awarded a plaque in 1982 for 13 years of dedicated service.

Bill was a certified First Aid instructor in several outlying areas.

Bill and Bonnie enjoyed participating in round and square dancing events through the years. Bill had a passion and talent for creating various objects out of wood and in his spare time loved cheering on the Ohio State Buckeyes!

Bill gave his talents to organizing out-of-town trips to Wheeling, WV. Few can forget the enjoyment that took place there, such as country western concerts, card playing, and shopping. After Bill's wife, Bonnie, died after 31 years, Bill married Kathleen "Kathy" Beers in 1989. They enjoyed 36 years of marriage, where they created lasting memories through their travels.

Bill is survived by his wife, Kathleen Stamm; children, Leonard (Lanette) Stamm, Linda (Greg) Oberdier and Lori Stamm; step-daughter, Julie (Jim) Clark; grandchildren, Brian (Tonya) Stamm, Tori (Scott) Buckley, Shane Oberdier; step-grandchildren, Lisa Marie Clark and Zoe Clark; great-grandchildren, Melli, Marcus, Sam, Ellie, and Trixie; siblings, Marge Loeffler and Leonard (Jean) G. Stamm; and brother-in-law, Alvin Neitzke.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Bonnie; siblings, Sue Neitzke, Phyllis Ann Stamm Brodbeck, and Fritz Stamm; brother-in-law, Al Loeffler; and many other relatives.

Friends will be received at the Ray Neville Chapel at Sunrise Cremations and Funerals, 7438 Airport Highway, Holland, on Monday, November 10, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. A graveside service will immediately follow at Roth Cemetery, Monclova.
