June Ward Obituary

June Marie (Allen) Ward, 75, of Hempstead, Texas, born on September 20, 1948, in Texas City, passed away on October 29, 2023.

June married the love of her life, John Ward on March 20, 1970. They had amazing adventures together, and with family and friends. They enjoyed traveling and truly have seen more sunrises and sunsets in more incredible places than most of us ever will, and they did it together. The life they shared is a true testament of what love is. From fishing trips, to hunting in weather that was not for the faint at heart, to wonderful times with friends and family, they spent 53 years, hand-in-hand. To this love story, John brought his son, John Ward III, whom June loved as her own. Together, June and John added to their family with the birth of their much-loved son, Shane Allen Ward.

June loved antiquing, and finding and refurbishing things into her own, unique style. Which included painting everything with stripes or polka-dots. She tended to her flowers and worked in the yard. Every year when the hummingbirds came, she would watch them with such delight. June was funny and outspoken. Although she told everyone she was the shy and quiet one of the three sisters, she was far from it. Her love for life and parties was undeniable when you saw how happy she was to see everyone gather together for any celebration she hosted. She was a long-standing member of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. For years, June volunteered many days at the Rodeo working with the children.

When June retired to their home in Hempstead, she spent her time watching her beloved grandsons John IV and Rylan grow up. The boys were everything to her. They brought her such joy and laughter. She was so proud of their accomplishments and loved them dearly.

June was predeceased by her parents Merrel (M. C.) and Josephine Allen, her brother Harry Lynn & Leslie Allen, brother James Alford "Buddy" Allen, brother-in-law Donald Leonard, and twin sister Judy Havel. She is survived by her loving husband, John, son John III, wife Khristi, and grandson John IV, son Shane, wife Leslie, and grandson Rylan James. Her sister Jannie, and many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

June led a remarkable life and made sure we all enjoyed every minute we had with her.

A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
