Kenneth M. Applegate Sr.

Kenneth M. Applegate Sr., 94, passed peacefully into the gates of Heaven April 28, 2022 surrounded by his family. Kenneth was born January 15, 1928 in Trenton, NJ. He was the son of the late Harold and Eva Applegate, husband of the late Miriam Danser Applegate and brother of the late Robert D. Applegate and Harold E, Applegate. He is survived by a daughter, sons and daughters-in-law, Kenneth Jr. (Elizabeth), Jeffrey (Kathryn) and daughter Cynthia (Joe); grandchildren, Courtney, Trey (Jeanie), Kenny, Elizabeth, Christopher, Casey, Erin, David, Ben, Alex, great grandson, Abram and several nieces and nephews. Kenneth was a graduate of Hightstown High School Class of 1945 and retired in 1990 from Argo Instrument Co. in Winchester, VA where he worked for 11 years. Previously he worked for 28 years as a mason for Union Local #5. Kenneth was a veteran of the US Army serving during World War II. He was a long time member of the First United Methodist Church of Hightstown and was a member of the Hightstown Methodist Men, Autumn Club and Local #5 Bricklayers and Allied Craftsmen. Funeral services will be held 11am Tuesday, May 3 at the Barlow & Zimmer Funeral Home, 202 Stockton Street, Hightstown, NJ 08520. Interment will follow at Westminster Cemetery, Cranbury. Calling hours will be held Monday from 6pm to 8pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers he requested donations be made to the First United Methodist Church of Hightstown, PO Box 137, Hightstown. The family would like to express their gratitude to all of the first responders in Hightstown and East Windsor along with the staff at Princeton Hospital for the care that they all gave Kenneth over the past few years.
