Betty Gambaiani Obituary
Betty was born Jan. 17, 1924, in Finchford, to Rosco and Vera (Short) Beaty. She attended grade school in Finchford and junior high and high school in Waverly, graduating in 1941. Betty attended Wartburg College and then worked at the local telephone office. She was united in marriage to Peter Gambaiani on Feb. 8, 1944, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. During Peter's service time in World War II, Betty worked at telephone offices in Harlingen, Texas, and Madison, Wis. She worked full time and part time for the telephone company from 1941 to 1960. She also was secretary for Bremer County Mutual Insurance Company for seven years and Director of Bremer County Veteran Affairs for 18½ years, retiring from that position in 1987. Betty and Peter wintered in Corpus Christi, Texas, for 13 years.
Betty was active in PTA and was a Cub Scout leader. She held several offices in the Trinity United Methodist women's group and also in her church circle. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the "Walk & Talk" program. Betty loved to sew, play bridge and cribbage, travel and take part in volunteer work.
She is survived by two sons and their wives: Dennis (Donna) and Terry (Jan), six grandchildren Joel (Jessica), Dr. Laura (Todd) Mayer, Dr. Julie Gambaiani, Neal (Bridget), Cheryl (Bryan) Hart and Lisa Gambaiani, all of the Minneapolis area, and 11 great grandchildren.
Her husband Peter, her parents and two sisters, Dora Belle Howard and Beulah Natzke, and two brothers, Warren Beaty and Wilson Beaty, preceded her in death.
Visitation will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church on Friday, May 20, 2016. The funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Deborah Coble officiating. Burial will be in Harlington Cemetery in Waverly. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Trinity United Methodist Church and the Cedar Valley Hospice.
Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Waverly is assisting the family.
