James McKeithen Obituary
Born March 6, 1926 in Bucksport, S.C., he was the son of the late Dudley McKeithan and the late Jessie Huggins McKeithan. After the death of his mother, he was raised by his paternal aunt, the late Ethel Leggett in Trenton, N.J. where he grew up and lived most of his working life. He worked for American Biltrite Rubber Company for over 29 years where he also served as a union shop steward. After this company closed, he established Jimmy's Cab Company and operated the business for more than 20 years. He was a member of Wayne Avenue Baptist Church where he served as trustee and deacon. A lifelong resident of Trenton, N.J., James had lived in Tennessee with his daughter and family since 2010.
Surviving are two sons, James Robert, Jr. and Brandon James; two daughters, Rita McKeithen and Rosalind Howard (Jeffrey); and 10 grandchildren, Vondalyn McKeithen, Shawnette (Devin) Goodman, Tahishia McKeithen, Charlana McKeithen, Tyquasia McDaniel, Monika (Kerry) Howard-Daniels, DeVon (Mikia) Howard, Rashawn Neal, Michael Howard, Brandon Josiah and Kissandra McKeithen, 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson. Jimmy also leaves one sister, Leona Avant; two brothers, Nathaniel (Joann), Frank (Patricia); one surviving paternal aunt, Louise Floyd; special cousin, Kelly McKithen, and many relatives, friends and loyal customers.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday, Oct.26, at Wayne Avenue Baptist Church, 30 Wayne Ave., Trenton, N.J. Calling hours will be from 9 a.m. until time of services at the church. Interment Brig. Gen. Wm. C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown, N.J. Arrangements are by the Hughes Funeral Home, Trenton.
