Mildred Weaver Obituary
In Loving Memory.
Mildred Lee Weaver, affectionately known as Milli, passed away at the age of 85 on January 20, 2026, at Good Samaritan Society, St. Martin Village, in Rapid City, South Dakota, after a lengthy struggle with dementia. She was cared for by Stillwater Hospice in Rapid City. Milli was beloved for her kindness and unwavering devotion to her family, friends, and her faith in Jesus Christ. Her absence will be deeply felt by all who knew her, and her legacy of compassion, laughter, and love will live on in the hearts of those whose lives she touched.
Early Life and Career:
Born on July 31, 1940, in New Augusta, Mississippi, to Melvin Garner and Avac (Lott) Garner, Milli spent her childhood in Mississippi and attended school in New Augusta. In the mid-1950s, she married and moved to Casper, Wyoming, where she worked as a waitress and telephone operator to help support her family. In 1983, Milli began working for the Wyoming Department of Unemployment as a claims analyst and was eventually promoted to Fraud Investigator for Unemployment. Although originally from Mississippi, Milli considered Casper her true home.
Family and Faith:
In August 1988, Milli married Jack Weaver, the love of her life. They made their home in Mississippi until 1991 when they moved back to Casper. She went back to work at the Wyoming Department of Unemployment where she retired in 2004. Together, she and Jack pursued their passion for ministry, serving in churches in Mississippi before returning to Casper where they continued their ministry for a total of 34 years until Jack's passing. Milli's faith was the foundation of her life; she prayed for her entire family and friends every morning. She deeply loved her family and worked tirelessly to support them. Among her favorite pastimes were crocheting, reading her Bible, and texting on her phone.
Preceded in Death:
Milli was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Avac Garner; her two brothers, Louis Garner and Melvin Garner Jr.; her beloved husband, Jack Weaver; stepson, David Weaver; granddaughter, Danielle Chisholm and niece, Tanya Bessey.
Survived By:
She is survived by her children: Rose Myers (Gary) of Petal, MS; Sandra Travis (Kenny) of Petal, MS; Kimberly Garcia of Caldwell, ID; Randall Weaver of Rapid City, SD and Lori Swett (Tim) of Rapid City, SD. Milli also leaves behind many grandchildren: Robert Myers (Stephanie); Gary Myers (Christy); Jennifer Cutrer (Barry); Jeremy Weaver; Christi Steinke (Joe); April Travis; Kahla Ramos (Alex); Stephanie Burton (Tom); Jessica Kinzley (Kevin); Heather Bestgen (Luke); Samantha Swett and numerous great-grandchildren.
Celebration of Life:
During this time of grief, her family and friends honor her memory and celebrate the many ways she enriched their lives. May her spirit continue to inspire them, and may they find comfort in the fond memories they shared. A celebration of Milli's life will be held in Casper at a future date. Following this, the ashes of Milli and Jack Weaver will be taken to Mississippi for a celebration of life and burial.
