Richard DeChicchis Obituary

Richard David "Reliable Rich" DeChicchis, 73, of Greensburg, died Thursday, Aug. 4, 2011, in UPMC Presbyterian, Oakland. Born Feb. 18, 1938, in Clairton, he was a son of the late William DeChicchis and Frances Vecchio Covelle. He was the owner of Reliable Auto Repair and ABC Auto Wreckers in Greensburg. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Cathedral and a lifetime member of Fox Hill Athletic Association. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Cynthia Ann DeChicchis; and a sister, Lois Rhome. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 41 years, Kathleen S. Painter Mayo DeChicchis; nine children, Cheryl DeChicchis and Paul DeChicchis (Debbie), of Pittsburgh, Brian DeChicchis (Aurora), of Oceanside, Calif., Richard DeChicchis (Rikki Sterf), Jill Sterba (Randy), Wendy DeChicchis, Jeff Mayo (Pam), Michelle Mayo Bianco and Shawn Mayo (Robin), all of Greensburg; a special grandson, Nathaniel Aaron, who was raised by his grandparents; an adopted grandson, Joseph Pees; 21 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Josephine DeChicchis, of Lake Orion, Mich.; three brothers, Rumaldo and James DeChicchis, of Greensburg, and Joseph DeChicchis and wife, Giavonnia, of Monongahela; a goddaughter, Desiree Medina, of McKeesport; many nieces, nephews and in-laws; and numerous friends. Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate the life of Richard from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday in the CLEMENT L. PANTALONE FUNERAL HOME INC., 409 W. Pittsburgh St., Greensburg, PA 15601, 724-837-0020. Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Westmoreland County Memorial Park, Hempfield.
