Ruth Louise Stearns, 80, of Glassport, died Tuesday, March 20, 2012, at home. She was born April 20, 1931, in Glassport, and was the daughter of the late Charles and Florence Bowen King. She was the wife of the late Herbert D. Stearns. Ruth was an active member of Glassport United Methodist Church, and had worked at the former Miller's Shoe Store, in Glassport. She was caretaker of her mother for 30 years. She enjoyed crocheting, gardening and yard work. In later years, she was an avid fan of court TV shows and Sudoku number puzzles. She is survived by her son, Herb D. Stearns Jr., of Glassport; daughter, Debra L. Helderlein, of Liberty Borough; grandchildren, William Stearns and Maureen (Jarrod) Beaumont, of Glassport, and Herb (Heather) Stearns III, of South Park; great-grandchildren, Nicole Mihalic and Mikayla Stearns, of Port Vue, Tyler and Emily Beaumont, of Glassport, and Mikayla and Brendan Stearns, of South Park; brother, John King, of Washington, D.C.; sisters, Betty Cardenas, of Pensacola, Fla., Isabelle Trimpey, of Lexington, N.C., Lucille Faust, of Crystal River, Fla., and Doris Ann King, of Pennsylvania; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, Charles King. Friends are welcome from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the GILBERT FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY INC., 6028 Smithfield St., Boston, Elizabeth Township. Service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Hal Dangel officiating. Private interment will be in the Jefferson Memorial Park, Pleasant Hills.
