Carl Fink Obituary

Carl Martin Fink, 71, of Rockville, MD, passed away peacefully in the early hours of Sunday, Nov. 2, 2025, from complications related to Parkinson's disease. Carl was raised in Irwin and was an avid Pittsburgh sports fan. An enthusiastic runner and a frequent golfer, he carried his lifelong curiosity and love of the outdoors wherever he went and especially loved hiking in the breathtaking landscapes of the American West. He also found great joy in music and reading always eager to learn, reflect, and share or receive a good book or CD recommendation. After graduating from the University of Pittsburgh in 1975, Carl moved to Washington, DC, to pursue a career in law. He spent seven years at the George Washington University, earning both his law and Master of Business Administration degrees and making lifelong friendships. He went on to lead a successful career in the healthcare field, while still enjoying his many passions and hobbies. He moved to Maryland with his family in the late '80s, where he spent many weekends walking the trails of the C&O Canal with his dogs and daughter. Carl will be remembered for his thoughtful spirit, quiet humor, and the kindness he showed to those around him. He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Donald and Frances Fink; his wife of 25 years, Peggy Daly; and his dogs, Sophie, Dexter, Bear, and Sally. Carl is survived by his devoted daughter, Rachel, and her husband, Aaron; his sister, Linda; his brother, Donald, and his partner, Karen; his numerous nieces and nephews and their families; and finally, his many beloved friends with whom he shared over half a century of adventures. A memorial service will be held at a later date in celebration of Carl's life. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Carl's memory to a Parkinson's research or support organization. To leave an online condolence, please visit www.ottfuneralhome.com.

I remember Carl from my MBA program at GWU. We were assigned to work together on a class marketing project. He was very bright, inquisitive, creative and nice to work with. My condolences to the family.

Karen, during Mass today our Priest asked for personal intentions during The Prayer of the Faithful, I prayed for Carl (&, in essence, you):

"Eternal Rest Grant Unto Carl, O Lord, and Let Your Perpetual Light Shine Upon him. May his Soul..., through the Mercy of God, Rest In Peace."

Karen, words never suffice. Serious thoughts and fervent Prayers will. Blessings to you. Your friend, Alan

Very sad news. I have so many memories of our families sharing holiday dinners together. Sorry we had lost touch over the last few years. My best to his family and Rachel.

I met Carl through his daughter, Rachel. Though I didn't see him often, he made quite an impression. He was so smart, so funny, and so kind and thoughtful. He hosted me in his home for Oscars telecasts and at NatGeo HQ for film screenings. He shared books with me, inscribed, of course, and brought me souvenirs from Deadwood because he knew I had recently watched the show. He always asked about my work, my interests, and my family. Rachel is a living testament to his talents, values, and character. I am sad that he's gone, but hopeful that he is at peace.
