Doreen Barclay

Doreen Barclay, 92, of Bridgeville, a former long-time Irwin resident, died Monday, September 22, 2025, at Paramount Hospice. She was born May 25, 1933, in Dundee, Scotland, a daughter of the late Mary (Mitchell) Sidey. In addition to her mother she is preceded in death by her beloved husband Peter Joseph Barclay, and loving son, Peter James Barclay. She and her husband immigrated to the Pittsburgh area from Dundee, Scotland, with their young children, many years ago. Doreen was well known in the Irwin area from her employment later in life at the Colonial Grille, where she greeted everyone with her lovely sweet smile and Scottish brogue. She enjoyed spending time with her loving family and friends, crocheting, playing bingo, reading, and enjoyed a wee glass of wine. She was a former member of First Presbyterian Church, Irwin. Doreen is survived by her children Bruce Barclay, Lorraine Cipra, and Doreen Abbatico (John); eight grandchildren; three great grandchildren; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins in Dundee, Scotland. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, September 25, at the WILLIAM SNYDER FUNERAL HOME, 521 Main St., Irwin. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, September 26, at First Presbyterian Church 617 Main St, Irwin, PA 15642.
