Richard P. Preisach

1941 - 2025

Richard P. Preisach, 84, of North Huntingdon, died Thursday, Nov. 6. He was born on Oct. 29, 1941, in Braddock, the son of the late Alvina and Gaza Sandor. Richard was a Navy veteran and self-employed painter. Earlier in his career, he worked at Westinghouse as a welder. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra Preisach, in 2015; his daughter, Christine Preisach; and his son, Steven R. Preisach. He is survived by his loving daughter, Terri Nicholls (Bob) of North Huntingdon; grandsons, Gavin Nicholls of Hanover and Gage Nicholls of North Huntingdon; siblings, Lynnette Toward (Gary) and Victor Sandor; many nieces and nephews; and his beloved cats. He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Gloria Hines and Nancy Preisach. Richard was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Irwin. He was also a member of the Turtle Creek Cruisers, a local car club. He enjoyed his days driving around from Irwin to his old neighborhood in Braddock. He is infamously known as the crow/bird wood maker. He built wooden birds/crows and hung them throughout neighborhoods and communities, from Monroeville, Pitcairn, Greensburg, Irwin, North Braddock, and more. He loved to hear that people would look for the birds like a scavenger hunt. It gave him joy to make people smile. We hope the community continues to look for them. In accordance with Rich's wishes, there will be no public visitation. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in his memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or All But Furgotten animal shelter.
