Anna M. Shields

Anna Marie Shields of Swissvale passed peacefully into eternal rest on May 31, 2025. She was the devoted daughter of the late Thomas E. and Jean (Coletta) Carr. Beloved wife of the late Hugh E. (Bud) Shields. Loving 'Mom' of Kevin E. (Linda) Shields. Sister of the late Thomas L. (surviving Mary) Carr. Sister-in-law of Mary Lou (the late Robert) Kost, Terrence (Michele) Shields and the late Betty Lydon, Kathleen (surviving Jim) Walter, and Sr. Carita (Florence) Shields. Aunt 'Ree' to her many nieces and nephews, of whom she loved dearly. She also had deep affection for many 'dear, dear' friends. Anna Marie was a graduate of Braddock High School and Braddock Hospital School of Nursing and earned her Bachelor of Science in Education from California University of Pennsylvania. After working in pediatrics at Braddock Hospital, Anna Marie pursued a career as a school nurse for the Swissvale Area and Woodland Hills School Districts. She retired from Woodland Hills, where she took great care of her students. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, and from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, June 4, 2025, at the THOMAS L. NIED FUNERAL HOME, 7441 Washington Ave., Swissvale, PA. A blessing service will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday morning, June 5, 2025, at the funeral home. Entombment will follow at Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum in Greenfield. www.niedfuneralhome.com.
