David Vietmeier Obituary

David Greer Vietmeier, 80, of Canonsburg, PA, passed away peacefully on Nov. 6th, surrounded by his loving family. Beloved husband to his wife, Carolyn (Knorr), of 58 years. Devoted father to his four children, Kerry (Chris) Mindach, Kelly Spadoni, David (Kathy) Vietmeier, and Sean (Chantal) Vietmeier. Adoring grandfather of Brittany, Tori, Mitchell, Emma, Tanner, Ella; baby boy, Vietmeier; and proud great-grandfather to Luca. Preceded in death by his parents, Muriel and George Vietmeier; his siblings, Murial/Sis Kniess (George), George/Buddy Vietmeier (Shirley), and Robert Vietmeier. Survived by her sister-in-law, Judy Vietmeier; as well as several in-laws, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was an accomplished man, who worked with incredible drive and tenacity in everything he did. He attended South Catholic High School before moving on to his beloved Notre Dame University, where he received his bachelor's degree in metallurgical engineering. He attended graduate school at the University of Pittsburgh, where he achieved his MBA. He began his career with Allegheny Ludlum in 1967, where he served multiple positions before ending his career as Vice President of Procurement for Allegheny Technologies Incorporated. Dave had the most generous spirit and was involved with multiple charitable and civic organizations, including serving as director of the Auberle Foundation and co-founder of the Pittsburgh Youth Golf Foundation. He was also involved with United Way and Boy Scouts and loved supporting many charities that were important to him. He never missed a single Notre Dame game, Steelers game, or Fox News interview. Some of his favorite pasttimes include playing golf, playing poker, watching movies, pranking friends and family, spending time in Hilton Head, coaching his kid's sports, and watching and supporting his grandkids and great-grandkids in their athletic and extracurricular endeavors. Dave was a God-fearing man, full of faith, integrity, and love. Dad/Pap-Pap was devoted to his family, and his favorite moments in life were spent in their presence. He had an infectious laugh and sense of humor that brought joy into every room he stepped into. He will be deeply missed by many, but his legacy will live on in the hearts of every person he touched. Visitation will be held at 2820 Washington Road, McMurray, PA 15317, on Sunday, Nov. 10th, from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. BEINHAUR FAMILY FUNERAL HOMES will be handling the funeral arrangements. My deepest condolences to you all. I have so many fond memories of your dad, notably Indian Princesses in your basement as a young girl. He was always so involved, which not only built wonderful memories, but also a really strong and wonderful family. Love to you all. ~Sam
