Florence M. Spanitz

Florence M. Spanitz, 86, of Pittsburgh, formerly of Duquesne, went to be with her Lord and Savior as she was surrounded by her loving family Saturday, Dec. 16, 2017. Florence is survived by her beloved children, Mary Beth (Gary) Miller, Edward (Katie) Spanitz and Antoinette "Cookie" Spanitz; granddaughter, Gabrielle (John) Bowery; great-grandson, Zachary Bowery; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward S. Spanitz; parents, Stephen and Elizabeth Kotzur; and her sister, Dorothy Dragan. "Flo" was a loving and devoted wife and mother who always put her children first. She was an expert shopper who loved shoes, chocolate, music and dancing. She lived with such style and grace and was eternally young. Flo had a passion for life and will be dearly missed for her radiant smile and captivating blue eyes. Her optimism drove us crazy, but we wouldn't have had it any other way. Flo provided countless lifelong memories for her children and friends. She lived a full and happy life and we are honored to celebrate the dash between the day she entered this world and the day she left it. We encourage you to do the same.
Family and friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at JEFFERSON MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME INC., 301 Curry Hollow Road, Pleasant Hills, PA 15236. A blessing service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home's chapel.
