Robert Rees Obituary

On Monday, Nov. 6, 2023, Robert James Rees, formerly of Mt. Lebanon, died peacefully in Lafayette, La. Affectionately known as Bob, Bobby, or Bo, depending on the context, he was born Oct. 3, 1956, in New Orleans, La. He was a son of the late Robert and Ann Marie Rees. Bob was the devoted father of Maureen Kathryn Rees (RC Brown) and Julia Rees Putnam (William). He was also the very proud grandfather of Forrest, Graham and Isaac. In addition, Bob was the brother of Justin Moran Rees and John Broussard Rees (Susan), both of Pittsburgh. He was also uncle to Justin, Madeleine, Caroline and Elizabeth. Bob was also blessed with a large extended family with numerous aunts, uncles and 48 first cousins, all of whom were very important people in his life. He grew up and raised his family in Pittsburgh but was very proud of and connected to his family's roots in Acadiana. Bob attended South Hills Catholic High School in Pittsburgh, and was an active alumnus of John Carroll University in Cleveland, Ohio. He served as a senior wealth management advisor for more than 30 years with Kidder Peabody, PNC Wealth Management, and Fifth Third Private Bank. He will be remembered as a great conversationalist and storyteller with a sense of humor and as a loyal friend who brought people together. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the John Carroll University '78 Memorial Scholarship for students with financial need, which he helped to start. Bob had a heart as big as a house. He was always so caring, even about people he didn't know. I was his good friend for 20 years. Like brothers and sisters we would fight and make up. I miss Bob, and he will be in my heart always.

Always enjoyed conversing with Bob and his fellow JCU alumnus John Baron at reunions and at alumni gatherings in Pittsburgh. Bob was a friendly and as cordial as one could be. He was very helpful to the JCU Alumni program over many years. RIP, Bob.

Bob was a wonderful man and I was saddened to hear of his passing. He was always putting a smile on everyone's faces with his stories and was so much fun to have around. Hugs and prayers to his family - quite the loss for all who knew him.

Bob Rees was a great guy and a great friend. We met our freshman year at John Carroll University and became fast friends. When I moved to Pittsburgh several years after our graduation, we reconnected and created a ton of lifelong memories - golf, great dinners, trips back to college reunions. Bob will be missed very much. He was a great story teller, always making them quite humorous, and he could help me turn a sad day into a great day. He was one of the best. Rest in peace Bob.
