William "Pat" Straughn, 93, of Carnegie, formerly of Wheeling, W.Va., passed away Friday, Nov. 26, 2021. He was the beloved husband of 59 years to the late Peggy (2014); beloved father of Beth (John) Sangermano, Dr. David P. Straughn, Michael R. (Jennifer) Straughn, the Rev. Daniel T. Straughn, and the late Aimee and Adam Straughn; Pap-Pap to Emily, Madalyn, Avery and Liam; and Pap-Pap to Grandpup, Prosper. He was predeceased by his parents, Catherine and Bill Straughn. He is survived by his brother, Jerry (Patty) Straughn; and sisters, Mary Jean (Leonard, deceased) Monteleone and Nancy (Jim, deceased) Doyle, all of Wheeling, W.Va.; along with many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Dad cherished his family, his Catholic faith and childhood memories of Benwood and Wheeling. Dad enjoyed a good cigar, feeding and watching the birds and squirrels, Notre Dame football and a good meal. He proudly served his country in the Army during the Korean War. Pat worked for Wheeling-Pittsburgh for 46 years in various commercial and product management roles. The family thanks all our kind and caring friends, neighbors and S.S.J. parishioners for their assistance, support and prayers. Viewing will be held from 1 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2021, and 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2021, at WILLIAM SLATER II FUNERAL SERVICE, 412-563-2800, 1650 Greentree Road, Scott Township, 15220. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2021, at St. Raphael the Archangel Parish, SS. Simon and Jude Church. Burial will be at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, next to his wife and daughter. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Discalced Carmelit Nuns of Danville (formerly of Wheeling), 1 Maria Hall Drive, Danville, PA 17821, who prayed for Dad while he was in Korea and aided in finding the first family home; the Marist Brothers of Wheeling Central at P.O. Box 250, Worth, IL 60482, who taught Dad in high school; and the Sisters of St. Joseph of Wheeling at 137 Mount St. Joseph Road, Wheeling, W.Va., 26003, who taught him in grade school. We are consoled knowing our Father loves us. Amen.
