Catherine M. Hartle, 93, of Sewickley, died Monday, Oct. 27, 2014, Concordia of Franklin Park. She was born April 28, 1921, in Sewickley, a daughter of the late Leonard and Anna Walter Merriman. She was a member of Economy Senior Citizens and secretary for the Democratic Committee in Bell Acres. Surviving are her two sons and daughters-in-law, Herbert and Bernadette Hartle Jr., of Ohio Township, and James and Ann Hartle, of Brighton Township; a daughter, Betsy Ann Hesidence, of North Hills; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and a brother, John Merriman, of Florida. Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents, were her husband, Herbert Hartle; granddaughter, Sharon Ann Smith; two brothers, Robert and Leonard Merriman Jr.; a sister, Margaret Hoffmaster; and a brother-in-law, George Hoffmaster. Friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the John Syka Funeral Home Inc., 833 Kennedy Drive, Ambridge, where a prayer will be conducted at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in the St. Mary Catholic Church with Father David J. Jastrab officiating. Interment will follow in St. James Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to the Good Samaritan Hospice, 3500 Brooktree Road, Wexford, PA 15090.
