I've been half-a-year in the dark on this, Dagmar's departure . . Special people make precious statements, sometimes, to others; here's one of hers . .

I really liked Dagmar and never new a lot of the political background she had; didn't even know about her degree in PS. she was so creative, I just thought that was her better developed brain side. Think of her fondly and have a great watercolor of her.

Dagmar and I spent sixteen years of our young adulthood together, living briefly near Army bases in San Antonio in 1969 and Heidelberg in 1970 before settling in Marin County in 1971. We shared many adventures together before life led us in different directions. As others have said, she was smart, unsentimental, and very direct. She was indeed modest. She was great with the kids she taught in San Antonio and Marin and was a truly gifted potter and artist. I'm glad to see the remembrances of her friends here.

Dagmar was so intelligent, honest and honorable. Her stoic exterior encased real sensitivity and compassion for people in trouble, all this is evident in her lovely artwork. Friends for more than 30 years, I'm so glad we kept in touch all those years, and that I visited her shortly before she passed. I treasure the painting she gave me at that last visit.

Dagmar was brutally honest and direct, yet her presence was
always endearing. How sad to lose her so soon.

Dagmar was a seeker, a person of integrity and humor, and a fellow museum lover...I'm happy to have had the opportunity to know her and to have counted her as a friend.

We had spoken on the phone last week. She sounded as always - looking at life with eyes open, not a trace of sentimentality.
I treasure the little pot you made for me to put wedding shower wishes in.

I will miss Dagmar. A woman with huge intelligence, a keen wit, and great sense of style. I knew her from Jr. High school and High School. Back then she was the "it" girl and popular with everyone. Yes, the boys wrote poetry to her.
She could show such kindness. So long, friend.

We will miss Dagmar deeply. Her garden delighted us everyday and her dry sense of humor made us laugh. She knew exactly how to encourage me when she learned of my cancer diagnosis. Dagmar was a good neighbor and friend.

Dagmar was such a talented artist, political thinker and wise soul. She taught me so much and I will always remember her fondly.
