David V. Post

1953 - 2015

David V. Post, 62, of Lower Burrell, passed away, Sunday, Nov. 15, 2015, following a brief illness, in UPMC Montefiore Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. He was born May 11, 1953, in New Kensington, to the late Francis V. and Rose E. (Capo) Post. He was a member of St. Margaret Mary Church in Lower Burrell. David graduated from Burrell High School in 1971, and in 1974, after three and one half years at the University of Pittsburgh, he received his Bachelor of Arts degree in economics. He started his career in 1975 at Conrail/CSX, in the track department, then as supervisor of Damage Prevention and finishing as a rail traffic controller, retiring in 2002. David enjoyed golfing and fishing, but his greatest pleasures were his wife, sons and grandchildren. He always said that the births of his sons were the best days of his life. His trip to Italy in 2014 was his best vacation. He had a great smile and laugh and will be missed by many people. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a niece, Adrienne Post; a nephew, Paul Maeder; and his four legged buddy, Cocoa. David was the beloved husband of his high school sweetheart, Janice (Grooms) Post, for 38 and one half years. In addition to his wife who survives him, he was the loving father of two sons, Michael D. Post, of Lower Burrell, and Christopher F. (Amanda) Post, of Apollo; two grandchildren, Keira Beach and Domanic Post, both of Apollo; two brothers, Bradley F. (Trina) Post of Tampa, Fla., and James C. Post, of Knoxville, Tenn.; two sisters, Claudia Jo (Dennis) Yanchak, of Houston, Texas, and Laura Rose (Scott) McMeans, of Upper Burrell; three nieces, Deanna Post Harton, Ashley Yanchak Boggiano and Meghan Schneider; and seven nephews, Lucas Schneider, Ryan Post, Nathaniel Yanchak, Alan Yanchak, Maxwell Maeder, Jeffrey Elst and Kevin Elst.
Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the FRANK F. GIGLER FUNERAL HOME, 2877 Leechburg Road, Lower Burrell, PA 15068, where prayers of transfer will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. Margaret Mary Church in Lower Burrell. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Park in Lower Burrell.
