He attended Central Catholic, and financed his education at Wheeling College and St. Louis University School of Medicine by working in the Pittsburgh steel mills through his summer and holiday breaks. He met the love of his life, Midge, in medical school, and was married for 46 years. Ed started his practice at Mercy Hospital of Pittsburgh, where he worked for over 40 years as a respected and accomplished general and vascular surgeon.
