He was a member of Plantation United Methodist Church and was an active volunteer on behalf of the homeless and hungry in Ft. Lauderdale. He and his wife and children traveled extensively, visiting nearly all 50 states, as well as Europe, India, China and Africa. He is survived by his devoted wife, Shirley (Dietrich) Ellis, a North Hills native whom he married June 25, 1948; and two children, Scott E. Ellis, of Orlando, Fla., and Jody L. Ellis, of Plantation. Loved ones Sue Maier and Don Meeker, also of Orlando and Plantation, respectively, and numerous nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by a brother, Elbert H. Ellis Sr.; and a sister, Dorothy Ellis Trozzi, both of Mars. Friends will be received from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday at the MCDONALD-AEBERLI FUNERAL HOME INC., 238 Crowe Ave., Mars.
