Elayne Mihalchik Obituary

Elayne Jean (Muscante) Mihalchik of Port Vue passed away peacefully Friday, May 16, 2014, at Forbes Regional Hospital. Born March 31, 1934, in McKeesport, Elayne attended McKeesport High School and Duquesne University, both of which she graduated from with honors. In 1957 she married Mike Mihalchik and together they had three children -- Sheryl (Brent) Maletic, of Washington, Pa., Robert (Renee) Mihalchik, of North Huntingdon, and Michael (Bonnie) Mihalchik, of Penn Township. Elayne always respected and instilled a need for further education. Her profession of pharmacy meant a great deal to her and she was employed at Bowen Drugs in Dravosburg and later at Merck Medco of North Versailles. Elayne was very proud of her Italian heritage and emphasized that family, next to God, were two of the most important aspects of life. She was a member of St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church in McKeesport. Elayne is survived by her husband, Mike; and her sisters, Mary Mason and Lucille Karaffa. She was predeceased by her parents, Annina and Falco Muscante; her sister, Rose Letteri; and brothers, Anthony and Dominic Muscante. She also has three grandchildren she loved dearly, Michael, Madeline and Amy. Elayne will be greatly missed. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at JAYCOX-JAWORSKI FUNERAL HOME INC., 2703 O'Neil Blvd., McKeesport, PA 15132, where a Panachida will be held at 4 p.m. A blessing service will begin at 9 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home followed by Divine Liturgy at 10 a.m. in St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church with Father Donald Voss as celebrant. Entombment will follow in New St. Joseph Cemetery, North Versailles. http://www.jaycox-jaworskifh.com.
