George Urda Obituary

George C. "Red" Urda, 79, of North Braddock, died Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2004. He was born April 24, 1925, in North Braddock to the late Andrew and Mary (Komenczia) Urda and also was predeceased by sister Irene Drusky. Mr. Urda was a World War II Army veteran, retired after 36 years of service at U.S. Steel's Edgar Thomson Works and a member of Braddock Elks and the Mon Valley Merchant Marine. Surviving are his beloved wife of 49 years, Charlene R. (Mikolaczyk) Urda; daughters, Renee (Dave) Janov, of North Huntingdon, Deborah (Stan) Wood of Kentucky, Cynthia (Tom) Connelly, of Forest Hills, and Jacqueline (Don) Redinger, of Castle Shannon; brothers, Ambrose and Elmer Urda; sisters, Vilma Noonan and Dorothy DePaulo, and grandchildren, Amanda, Dana, Danielle, Zachery, Donald, Andrew and Jason. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at the RONALD V. LUCAS FUNERAL HOME, Bell and Jones avenues, North Braddock, (412) 271-1361. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Friday in Good Shepherd Church, followed by interment with military honors in Braddock Catholic Cemetery. www.ronlucasfuneralhome.com.
