Jean Rice Obituary

Jean F. Rice, 85, of Upper St. Clair, died Saturday, Jan. 17, 2015. Jean was a friend to all, an active volunteer in community and church organizations, as well as an avid supporter of Pittsburgh arts and culture. A lifelong learner and enthusiastic traveler, her caring, compassionate and generous spirit will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. She was the beloved wife of the late Walter E. Baker Jr. for 32 years and the late Jack D. Rice for 24 years; loving mother of Amy Baker Dennis (Daniel), Jonathan P. Baker (Jerri), Andrea B. Stanley (William) and the late Walter E. "Chip" Baker III (Darice). Jean is also survived by Jack's children, Katharine Rice Junker (Richard), Mimi Rice Staaf (Richard), Laura Rice Dawson (William); and 16 grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 24, 2015, at Friendship Village of the South Hills, 1290 Boyce Road, Upper St Clair. Arrangements entrusted to the WARCHOL FUNERAL HOME INC., 412-221-3333. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association of Southwestern Pennsylvania.
