John Yelenic Obituary

Dr. John J. Yelenic Jr., D.M.D., 39, of Blairsville, passed away at his home on Thursday, April 13, 2006. The son of John J. Yelenic Sr. and Mary Lois Swasy Yelenic, he was born Feb. 20, 1967, in Latrobe. Dr. Yelenic was a member of the Christian & Missionary Alliance Church, Blairsville, American Dental Association, Pennsylvania Dental Association and Western Pennsylvania Dental Association. He was a 1985 graduate of Blairsville High School. He received his bachelor of science degree in biology from Juniata College in 1989, and graduated from the University of Pittsburgh Dental School in 1993. Dr. Yelenic loved his profession as a dentist and was a partner in the Reilly-Yelenic Dental Office, Blairsville. He also did school exams for the Blairsville-Saltsburg School District. Surviving are a son, Jay-Jay Yelenic, of Indiana, Pa., and several aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the SHOEMAKER FUNERAL HOME INC., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Christian & Missionary Alliance Church, 135 E. Burrell St., Blairsville, with the Rev. John McMannus and the Rev. Mark T. Woomer co-officiating. Interment will be in the Blairsville Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Christian & Missionary Alliance Church or to Juniata College, 1700 Moore St., Huntingdon, PA 16652.
