Paul Meskanick Obituary

Paul G. Meskanick Sr., 84, of Duquesne, died Thursday, Jan. 18, 2007, at his residence, after a courageous battle with Parkinson's Disease. Born in Duquesne, May 19, 1922, he was the son of the late John and Anna (Petrisko) Meskanick. Mr. Meskanick was a bricklayer for U.S. Steel Duquesne Works and later worked in the maintenance department for the Duquesne School District. Beloved husband of Mary (Racsko) Meskanick, of Duquesne; and loving father of Paul G. (Stacey) Meskanick Jr., of Evans City. Survived by grandchildren, Andrea Kessler, Alexander Meskanick, Julianne Meskanick, and Christian Meskanick. Also survived by brothers, Steven Meskanick, of Duquesne, and Carl Meskanick, of North Huntingdon. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Marlene Meskanick Kessler, and by brothers, John Meskanick and Bernard Meskanick. An avid Pittsburgh sports fan, Mr. Meskanick graduated from Duquesne High School in 1939 and was a member of Christ The Light of The World Parish. Mr. Meskanick was a sergeant in the U.S. Army and served in World War II, earning two bronze stars. Friends will be received from 2 to 5 and 6 to 9 p.m. Friday in the WILLIAM S. SKOVRANKO MEMORIAL HOME, Corner of Richford and Commonwealth Ave., Duquesne. Blessing services will be held in the memorial home at 9 a.m. Saturday followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in Holy Name Church, Duquesne, with the Rev. Dennis Colamarino as celebrant. Burial with military honors will follow in Holy Name Cemetery, West Mifflin.
