W. Irvin Obituary

W. Arch Irvin Jr., 72, of Fox Chapel, passed away Sunday, Dec. 9, 2007. Beloved husband of Lorna; father of William A. III (Bonnell), Amelia (the late Richard) Yeager, Janet (Charles) Steitz and James (Ann); stepfather of Lisa (Brian) Flannigan, Thomas (Abby) Hardy and Nicholas (Shirley) Hardy. Born April 10, 1929, he was a son of the late William A. Irvin Sr. and Amelia Niemann Irvin; brother of the late Edward A. Irvin. Mr. Irvin graduated from Shady Side Academy in 1947 and from Amherst College in 1951. After graduating from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law in 1955, he was an active attorney in Allegheny County for 50 years. He was one of the founding partners of the law firm Wayman, Irvin and McAuley. Mr. Irvin was an active member of Oakmont Country Club and an avid golfer, bowler and skier. He will be missed by all who knew him. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, 5801 Hampton St., Highland Park. Arrangements by MCCABE BROS. INC. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Willows 1 at Presbyterian Senior Care, Oakmont or to St. Andrew's Episcopal Church.
