Walter Pitschke Obituary

Walter J. Pitschke, 92, of Observatory Hill, passed away Sunday, Feb. 9, 2014. He was the beloved husband of the late Lorraine R. (Vacek); loving father of Walter J. Jr. (Clara), Richard A. (Carla), Sherry Dunn, Lori Karas (Stephen) and the late Karen Stringob; and is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; brother of the late Al and Elmer Pitschke, Martha Folsom and Catherine Martin. Walter was a World War II veteran, serving in the Army Air Corps. He retired from Gulf Research in Harmarville. He coached and refereed youth baseball and basketball with the Perry Athletic Association into his 70s. Family and friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the H.P. BRANDT FUNERAL HOME INC., 1032 Perry Highway, Ross Township, 412-364-4444. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday in St. Alexis Church. Everyone meet at church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Make-A-Wish, 707 Grant St., 37th Floor, Pittsburgh, PA 15219. Online condolences may be sent to: http://www.brandtfuneralhome.com.
