William Parker Obituary

William Raymond Parker died Thursday, Aug. 5, 2004, at his home. He was the son of the late Wayne DeLeon and Eliza Lee Parker and attended the University of Pittsburgh, where he received a bachelor's degree in business administration and a master's degree in education. The greater part of his professional career was at Ketchum, MacLeod & Grove, a major advertising company in the U.S. For 32 years, he held major positions within Ketchum, including vice president of corporate services, a member of the board of directors and CEO of Ketchum International. He retired from Ketchum in 1980 and started a small consulting business called Alzed Enterprises LTD. His commitment to volunteerism was reflected by his involvement as chairman of the board of the Greater Pittsburgh Convention and Visitors Bureau, the Better Business Bureau, Consumer Credit Counseling, Rotary and Junior Achievement. He was a member of the Duquesne Club and the Pittsburgh Athletic Association. Surviving are his wife, Lee Evans Parker; children, Judith Parker Bernhard of Pittsburgh, Bonnie Parker (Ted) Ogle of Louisville, Ky., and Robert (Christine) Parker of Westfield, N.J.; nine grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. Friends will be received from 10:30 a.m. until noon services Saturday in the MATTHEW ARENA FUNERAL HOME, P.C., 2702 Mt. Royal Blvd. at Mt. Royal Memorial Park, Shaler. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice and Home Care, 750 Holiday Drive, Foster Plaza 9, Pittsburgh, PA 15220.
