David Cahouet Obituary

David Ralph Cahouet of Arnold, MD, passed away on Aug. 24, 2024, at the age of 52. Son of the late Frank V. Cahouet and the late Ann Walsh Cahouet of Sewickley Heights, PA. Survived by his wife of 25 years, Kate Clavin Cahouet; and his daughters, Margaret Ann Cahouet and Emma Marie Cahouet; by his sisters, Ann P. Cahouet and Mary Cahouet-Rotondi; his brother, Frank V. Cahouet, Jr.; and by his nine nieces and nephews. Family and friends knew Dave as a fiercely devoted husband and father and a loving son and brother. We also knew Dave as a loyal friend, a careful listener, and a talented storyteller. We'd light up when he launched into a story. No matter how many times we'd heard the tale, we knew it only improved with each telling. David earned his undergraduate degree at Villanova University. He went on to earn an MBA from Duquesne University and a master's in science degree from the John M. Katz Graduate School of Business at the University of Pittsburgh. Dave pursued a career in banking, and his colleagues and customers remember him as a pleasure to work with--sane, rational, insightful, disciplined, and productive. His sense of humor and his natural diplomacy helped Dave to be direct, when necessary, without causing offense. He was an asset to every team. It would not be possible to describe David without acknowledging the courage and resilience, the grace and hope with which he faced his final battles. Over the past few years, he accomplished feats of mind over matter that left those who loved him in awe. A Mass of Christian Burial at St. James Church Divine Redeemer Parish in Sewickley, PA, was held on Thursday, Sept. 12 and was to be followed by a private interment at Sewickley Cemetery. A gathering will follow at the Allegheny Country Club, 250 Country Club Road in Sewickley. In lieu of flowers, David's family invites you to support the Wellness House of Annapolis, Hospice of the Chesapeake, or Cancer Bridges of Pittsburgh.
