Aiden Francis Piper, affectionately known as "Little Man," infant son of Robbie L. Piper Jr. and Marie Elena Hickey of Latrobe, passed away Saturday, April 9, 2016, in West Penn Hospital Pittsburgh, where he was born March 20, 2016. Although tiny in stature, Aiden fought very hard for the short time he was with us, and touched many lives. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his half-sister, Ciera Piper; maternal grandparents, Martin and Susan Hickey, of Latrobe; paternal grandmother, Pam Piper, of Latrobe; great-grandmothers, Shirley Prosperi, Ruth Dickson and Irene Piper; aunts, Gloria Hickey and Robyn Piper; uncle, Steve Piper; and numerous great-aunts, great-uncles and cousins. Aiden was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Robbie L. Piper Sr.; and great-grandparents, Aldo Prosperi, Francis and Rose Marie Hickey and Frank Piper. Aiden's family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the caring staff in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at West Penn Hospital for the compassionate care given to him during his short life.
Friends and family are welcome to a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 13, 2016, in St. Vincent Basilica, 300 Fraser Purchase Road, Latrobe. Interment will follow in St. Vincent Cemetery. The HARTMAN-GRAZIANO FUNERAL HOME INC., in Latrobe, is assisting the family with the arrangements.
