Annabelle Barker Obituary

Annabelle Hefner Barker, 85, of Greensburg, formerly of Ligonier, died Saturday morning, Oct. 11, 2008, in Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital, Greensburg. She was born Sept. 7, 1923, in Neola, W.Va., a daughter of the late Arthur W. and Flora Wade Hefner. She was a member of St. Michael's of the Valley Episcopal Church and Fort Ligonier Chapter 349 Order of Eastern Star. She and her husband, Denver R. Barker, who passed away Dec. 8, 1987, owned and operated Hobart Sales & Service in Greensburg for 25 years. She was also preceded in death by four brothers, Leslie E., Lonnie W., John A. and Joe M. Hefner. She is survived by her son, Chris Hefner, and three grandchildren, Clayton, Jaclyn and Jacob Hefner, all of Greensburg; three sisters, Wilma H. Stump, of Roanoke, Va., Nellie H. Doan and husband, Howard L., of Warren, Ohio, and Jane H. Boggs and husband, Emmett N., of Ligonier; and several nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the SNYDER FUNERAL HOME INC. & CREMATORY, Bell and East Church streets, Ligonier. Fort Ligonier Chapter 349 OES will hold services at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Dr. James B. Simons officiating. Interment will be in St. Michael's of the Valley Cemetery. The family requests memorial donations may be made in lieu of flowers to the Alzheimer's Association at www.alz.org.
