Barbara Romeo Obituary

Barbara J. Romeo, 86, passed away peacefully at her home in Pittsburgh on Dec. 16, 2025, with caregiver and great-granddaughter, Deondrea Seay, at her side. Born on May 22, 1939, Barbara was a loving and dedicated family woman whose presence was cherished by all who knew her. She is survived by her daughters, Cheryl Garrison and Deborah Hecker; son, Donald Hecker Jr.; sisters, Rowena Orsini and Dorothy Swartz; and brothers, Fred and Robert Swartz. Her legacy continues through her six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren. Barbara was preceded in death by her mother, Margaret Swartz; husband, Eugene Romeo; son, Scott Hecker; daughter, Charmayne Laurito; granddaughter, Deondra Hunter; great-granddaughter, Kensley Laurito; and her beloved pet, Pandy. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Jane Olbeter; and brother, Henry Swartz. Barbara's hobbies included cooking, crocheting, and spending time at her beloved camp in Andover, OH. These activities brought her great joy and were a significant part of her life, providing cherished memories for her family and friends. A service to celebrate her life will be held in May 2026 in Tarentum. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Barbara's memory can be made to the Andover Fire Department in Ohio, supporting a community that was close to her heart. Barbara's warmth and kindness will be dearly missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
