Barry L. Pershing

Barry L. Pershing, 88, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Aug. 1, 2025. As a lifelong resident of Pleasant Unity, Barry had a special love for his family and his hometown. He was known for being a helper to family, friends, and neighbors; he always happily lent a hand no matter the task. A veteran of the U.S. Army, Barry retired from Latrobe Steel after 45 dedicated years. He spent his retirement tending to his farm, attending stock car racing events, and riding and maintaining his tractor. Barry was also an animal lover. He cared for many animals over the years, including his barn cats, cattle, and sheep, to name a few. He also adopted and took care of many miniature schnauzers over the years alongside his wife, Nancy, and spent time taking them for walks, snuggling on the couch, and enjoying their company. Barry is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Nancy; and his daughters, Pamela Pershing-Tomlinson (Fred), Paula Pershing, and Kathy Zdobinski (Eric). Barry is also survived by four grandchildren, Lindsey, Zachary, Emily, and Allison; and one great-grandchild, Celena. Following Barry's wishes, there will be no formal services. Our family would like to express their appreciation and thanks to the Forbes Regional Trauma Center staff in Monroeville. Their kindness and support allowed for Barry to pass in peace, and we will cherish that forever.
