Betty Anderson Obituary

Betty (Houpt) Anderson, 78, of Oakmont, passed away peacefully Saturday, Nov. 18, 2023, with her family by her side. Betty is survived by four daughters, Lori Pilling, of Oakmont, Lisa (Dean) Gerber, of O'Hara Township, Dana (John) Heller, of Lower Burrell, and Jenifer (CJ) Pearl, of Ladera Ranch, Calif.; and son, Jeff (Shannon) Anderson, of Phoenix, Ariz. She was blessed to have 18 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Her grandchildren include Jason Pilling, Stephen (Megan) Anderson, Richard Gerber, Dylan (Carly) Anderson, Amanda Scheboth (Andy) Orr, Tom (Jess) Pilling, Bethany Scheboth (Joe) McKeon, Alexsandra (Nick Opalka) Heller, Curtis Scheboth, Daniel Scheboth, Christian (Leah Seibel) Heller, Elissa Scheboth, Faith Scheboth, Isabella Scheboth, Jack Pearl, Jenna Scheboth, Ava Pearl and Grace Scheboth. Great-grandchildren are Isla Anderson to Stephen and Megan and Michael McKeon to Bethany and Joe. Betty is also survived by sisters, Amy (Paul) Rice, Gay (John) Buchanan, Nancy (Rod) Keefer, Pam (Steve) Clay, brother, Tom (Candi) Houpt; and many dear nieces and nephews. Betty was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Richard Anderson; beloved daughter, Dawn (Raymond) Scheboth; grandson, Gabriel Scheboth; parents, James and Mary Ellen (Provard) Houpt; and brothers, Jim (Jean) Houpt, David (Kris) Houpt, Jerry (Ginger) Houpt and Bob (Judy) Houpt. Betty owned Anderson Interiors, Inc., a company she started with her husband in 1975, that has locations in Oakmont, Verona and Downtown Pittsburgh. She could be found at the Oakmont office almost daily unless she was spending days with her grandchildren or next door at Hoffstots having lunch with friends. Her family was her world and she was a devoted mother and grandmother to each of them. She also spent countless hours volunteering for the Oakmont Chamber of Commerce, even serving as president for a time. She very much enjoyed the small town life of Oakmont as she grew up in one very similar, Greencastle, with her nine cherished siblings. She was a respected and treasured member of the Oakmont community. Friends and relatives will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 26, 2023, at the BURKET-TRUBY FUNERAL HOME CREMATION AND ALTERNATIVE SERVICES INC., 421 Allegheny Ave., Oakmont, PA 15139. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 27, 2023, in Riverside Community Church, 401 Allegheny Ave., Oakmont, PA 15139. Everyone meet at the church. Entombment will follow at The Verona Cemetery Mausoleum, Oakmont, next to her husband, Richard Anderson. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Betty's name to RCAC-Food Pantry Program. P.O. Box 437, Oakmont, PA 15139; or The Blessing Board, 880 Butler St., Suite 1A, Pittsburgh, PA 15223.

Betty was a wonderful, loving, loyal and compassionate mother and friend. I feel so blessed to have known her. Whenever we texted or talked it seemed like no time had passed. My thoughts and prayers go to her family, especially my beautiful daughter-in-law, Jen.

Betty was outstanding in everything she attempted. Loved playing golf with her at Churchill. She will be missed by all that knew her.
