Brett Roach Obituary

Brett Alan Roach, 52, of Ligonier, died Sunday, Jan. 18, 2004. He was born Nov. 6, 1951, in Youngstown, a son of William Andrew and Mary Margaret (Shirey) Roach, of Youngstown. Brett was a 1969 graduate of Latrobe Senior High School and a 1973 graduate of Lehigh University, where he majored in finance and was a member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved hunting, fishing and skiing. He was a respectable golfer and enjoyed classic sports cars. One of his proudest efforts was restoring a classic Jaguar. Another favorite pastime was gardening and he loved to share his fresh vegetables with his friends and neighbors. An active member of his community, Brett served as a past member of the Ligonier Shade Tree Commission, the Youngstown Volunteer Fire Department and was a member of the St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church, Youngstown. In addition to his parents, Brett is survived by three children, Nicole Leigh Roach and her boyfriend, Michael Louderback, of Philadelphia, Brett Alan Roach II, of Pittsburgh, and Michael Timothy Roach, of Latrobe; his former wife, Joan (Lennon) Roach, of Latrobe; his sister, Susanne Roach, of Youngstown; his sister-in-law, Tami Lynne Roach, of Youngstown; his niece, Miranda Joan Roach of Youngstown; his uncle and aunt, Warren and Tanya Roach; and cousins, Nicole Rene Roach, Kevan Roach and Kevan's daughter, Meghan, all of Elkton, Md. He was preceded in death by a brother, William Carl Roach; and an uncle, Carl E. Shirey. Brett dearly loved his three children and was always proud of their many accomplishments. He will be sadly missed, but fondly remembered by his family and friends who loved him very much. Friends will be received at the HARTMAN-GRAZIANO FUNERAL HOME INC., 1500 Ligonier St., Latrobe, Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11:30 a.m. in St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church, Youngstown, with the Rev. David P. von Schlichten officiating. (EVERYONE IS ASKED TO PLEASE GO DIRECTLY TO THE CHURCH) Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Brett's memory may be made to Lehigh University Annual Fund, 622 Broadhead Ave., Bethlehem, PA 18015.
