Carl C. Skerl

Carl C. "Shorty" Skerl, 98, of Carnegie, on April 2, 2025. Beloved husband of the late Shirley (Meneely) Skerl for 68 years; loving father of Barbara Radaker and Nancy (Tim) Sobota; cherished grandfather of Erik (Holly) Radaker, Jessica (Mike) Novak, and Emma (Ryan) Stack; and great-grandfather of Kayleigh, Bryce, Austin, and Mason; brother of the late Frank Skerl Jr., Frances Curl, Harry Skerl, Stanley Skerl, Vincent Skerl, and Margaret Guzell; also many loving nieces and nephews. Carl served proudly with the U.S. Navy on the USS Alabama, and owned and operated Carl C. Skerl Heating and Cooling. He was a member of the SNPJ Lodge #6, Sygan, PA, a member of Bethany Presbyterian Church, and a former member of Rennerdale United Presbyterian Church. Carl enjoyed Slovenian music; he dabbled in photography, and he loved spending weekends at the SNPJ campsite and many travels with his wife, Shirley; and their group of close friends. His most valued time was spent with his family, carrying on traditions. His lifelong love of making kolbasse and sauerkraut will continue with the next generation.
