Carol A. Roberts

1942 - 2023

Carol Ann (Skillings) Roberts, 81, of Greensburg, died unexpectedly Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2023. She was born Aug. 15, 1942, in Latrobe, a daughter of the late Joseph and Adaline M. Jackson Skillings. Carol was a lifelong member of First Antioch Baptist Church where she was active as a Sunday school teacher, organist and pianist and a choir director. Prior to raising her children, she had worked as a nurse at both Jeannette Hospital and at West Penn Power, Greensburg. After her children were grown, Carol worked in the cafeteria at Nicely Elementary and as a teacher's aide at both the Westmoreland Intermediate Unit and ESS within the Jeannette School District. Carol always loved being involved with children and the elderly. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. William G. Roberts; sister, Beverly Coleman; a brother, Joseph Skillings Jr.; and a brother-in-law, Thomas Payne. She is survived by her son, Christopher Roberts, of Latrobe; daughter, Lisa Roberts, of Greensburg; five grandchildren, Desiree, Dante, Serai, Kylen and Ayanna; two great-grandchildren, Adrian and Parrish; sisters, Dietra Payne, of Greensburg and Darlene Ross (Dan), of Allison Park; brothers, Merzone Skillings (Thomasina), of Murrysville, and Terry Skillings, of Hannastown; several nieces and nephews; and a goddaughter, Tina Aiken (Pastor Roy), of Greensburg. Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate the life of Carol, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., the time of services, Monday in First Antioch Baptist Church, 726 W. Pittsburgh St, Greensburg, with the Elder Reed Moore officiating. Interment will follow in St. Clair Cemetery, Greensburg.
