Charles Kowalski Obituary

Charles E. "Stan" Kowalski, 90, of Hahntown, North Huntingdon, died Sunday, Jan. 20, 2008, in Weatherwood Manor, Hempfield Township. He was born Jan. 23, 1917, in Hempfield Township, to the late John and Frances Crashossky Kowalski, and was also preceded in death by his wife, Emma Watkiss Kowalski, in August 2007. He was a retired toll taker for the Pennsylvania Turnpike and was also a former self-employed carpenter. He was a World War II veteran of the Merchant Marine and a member of New Hope Presbyterian Church, North Huntingdon. Surviving are a brother-in-law, Kenneth (Karen) Watkiss, of Hahntown; nephews, Brad (Joanne) Watkiss and Blake (Anne) Watkiss; and a niece, Kourtney Watkiss. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the WILLIAM SNYDER FUNERAL HOME, 521 Main St., Irwin, 724-863-1200, where a funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday with the Rev. Ms. Janet Reid officiating. Interment will follow in Westmoreland County Memorial Park, Hempfield Township. Those wishing may contribute to New Hope Presbyterian Church, Lincoln Way, North Huntingdon, PA 15642.
