Charles J. Novak

1953 - 2023

Charles J. Novak, 69, of Pitcairn, passed away Sunday, March 19, 2023. He was born Sept. 24, 1953, in Pittsburgh, a son of late Edward and Barbara (Crowe) Novak. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Ernest Novak; sister, Corrine Novak; sister in-law, Sandra Novak; and brother in-law, Johan Hild. Chuck was a member of Faith Bible Baptist Church, Wilkins Township, and a graduate of East Allegheny High School. A hard worker and fast learner, he went into the workforce after high school. He worked for 19 years at the old Pittsburgh Hospital in Homewood. Following that, he worked many years as a delivery and cab driver throughout Pittsburgh. This, only adding to his uncanny sense of direction, getting anywhere in the city many different ways, also finding the best Pittsburgh dives to eat! Chuck was a diehard Pittsburgh sports fan. He had an undeniable memory, fierce sense of independence and stubborn personality! Above all, he was loyal to his family and friends. He is survived by his children, Stephanie (Cliff) Schademan, of Bethel Park, and Joseph Novak (Rachel Kohut), of West View; grandchildren, Charlotte, Kade and Will; brothers and sisters, David Novak, of East McKeesport, Janet Novak, of Conway, Margaret Hild, of Fredericksburg, Va., and Betty Lynn (Ken) Sari of Wake Forest, N.C.; also nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the FORGIE-SNYDER FUNERAL HOME, 1032 Broadway, East McKeesport, 412-823-8083. A funeral ceremony will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in the funeral home with Pastor Gary LaPietra officiating. Interment will follow in Penn Lincoln Memorial Park.
