So deeply sorry for your loss. Although I never knew him, only from the media coverage, this tragedy hit me hard. Maybe because I lost my dad at a young age, maybe my brother being a firefighter, but my heart aches for you all. I was not going to vote in this election, was going to sit this one out, but I changed my mind and decided to cast the vote that Corey never got the opportunity to do, in some small way to honor his loss. My mind has been on Cory Comperatore all day today, and felt it important to convey continued condolences to his family, his co-workers, and all whose lives were personally touched by Corey ... as his absence from their day-to-day lives ... continues.
He is still remembered and his name is still very much alive in others' minds & hearts.
Rest in peace dear man.

At President Trump's rally, you were trying to protect your-self when those shots were fired. My grand-father (Paul Partazana) was a police-officer, so I can under-stand where you're coming from. This is to the memory of a man I never met. Corey was a proud Veteran, a protective husband and father. A man who ran into a burning building to save lives. Protecting and serving was in his nature. I grew up in the Sarver area and graduated from Freeport in 71' Spent many times in and around the fire hall and the beautiful Sarver community. I grew up across the road and graduated from Freeport High School, Class of 1966, I had no idea that Cory was also from my neck of the woods. It doesn't matter that I never knew him, although I would have liked to. He proved what is said of heroes - that they never intend to become one, they just do the right thing at the right time. While I did not know Corey Comperatore personally I feel like I know him from the outpouring of love and tribute that have flooded in since the tragic events of last Saturday.
No words can fully assuage the grief and loss to his family and friends and the people of the community where he lived. But it is abundantly clear that Corey Comperatore was a man of great Christian faith who loved Christ, his family and his Country in that order and lived a great life.
We need more people like Corey Comperatore. His life is one of service to others and humility. We can all learn from and be inspired by the life of a man who did not seek fame and fortune but only the approval of God and the love of family. (Even so, it was beautiful to listen to President Trump's tribute to him).
Corey Comperatore is in the arms of God and the angels and heard His words: "Well done, good and faithful servant". The peace of Christ be with you.
