Diane "Dee" (Dreifort) Splitstone, 73, of Murrysville, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2015, peacefully at her home of Pulmonary Hypertension, with her beloved and devoted husband of 48 years, Douglas, at her side. She was born Nov. 26, 1942, in Cleveland, Ohio, a daughter of the late Donald and Margaret (Haydorn) Dreifort. In addition to her husband, Dee is survived by her loving family: daughter, Heather Cooper and her husband, Douglas, of Hanover; son, Donald Splitstone and his wife, Stacy, of Treesdale; and grandchildren, Hayden, Cole and Shea Cooper and Zoe Splitstone. Dee was a 15-year survivor of a matched unrelated donor stem cell transplant for Chronic Myelomonocytic Leukemia (CMML). She was a 10-year First Connection volunteer with The Leukemia And Lymphoma Society
, giving comfort and hope to more than 80 newly diagnosed CMML patients in the contiguous United States, Hawaii and Canada. A graduate of Miami University with a Bachelor of Science in Education, Dee was a teacher in the Gateway School District and was a substitute teacher in the Franklin Regional School District for 17 years.
Respecting the family's wishes, there will be no visitation. A memorial service to celebrate Dee's life will be held at a later date. Funeral arrangements are being handled by BASH-NIED FUNERAL HOME, 152 Abbe Place, Delmont, PA, 724-468-8381.
